Print developed from Bisa Butler’s Southside Sunday Morning, 2018,

Bisa Butler took an iconic Bronzeville image from a New Deal funded photograph by Russell Lee, stripped the background away and transformed it into an empowering portrayal of Black youth.  In their suits and hats adorned with a medley of bold, African print fabrics – they become a suave crew to be reckoned with.   This piece is in the exhibit: Bisa Butler’s – Portraits.
