Print developed from Normal Rockwell’s The Dugout, 1948, from the Art Institute of Chicago’s collection.

The Dugout was originally painted for the September 4, 1948 cover of The Saturday Evening Post.  The painting depicts the Chicago Cubs bench dejected during a game against the Boston Braves.  It has become one of Rockwell’s most iconic baseball-themed works.

Rockwell also created additional paintings based on the Post’s image, this one was made for Dr. & Mrs. Boviard.
