Print developed from Vincent van Gogh’s The Bedroom, 1889, from the Art Institute of Chicago’s collection.

"Looking at the picture ought to rest the brain, or rather the imagination," Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890) wrote to his brother Theo before painting this bedroom scene. The painting was part of a decorating scheme for his new house in Arles, which van Gogh dubbed "The Studio of the South," with the hope that friends and artists would join him there in the south of France.
